WHO WE ARE

Tranquility Cycles brings people together through community cycling activities for people of all ages – improving mental and physical health while offering trusted bicycle repairs and maintenance.

We are a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) SC877620.

That means every pound we earn goes straight back into the community. No shareholders. No private profits. Just better cycling, better health, and better access for everyone.

We are based at Glasgow Collective, we run weekly rides, repair sessions, and special events including our programme leading up to and during the Glasgow 2026 Festival. When you ride with us, you’re not just helping yourself, you’re helping your whole community.

MEET SANDRINE UWAYEZU

About The Founder

Sandrine Uwayezu is a sport development practitioner and professional cycling mechanic with extensive experience across national and international cycling environments. She is recognised as Rwanda’s first female professional bike mechanic and among the first women in Africa to work professionally within international cycling races and elite competition settings.

With over six years of experience working in high-performance cycling, Sandrine worked with the Rwanda National Cycling Team between 2017 and 2023, supporting athletes during national and international competitions. Her international experience also includes working with Team Illuminate during the Tour of Rwanda and supporting the Namibia National Cycling Team during the African Cycling Championships.

Now based in Glasgow, Scotland, Sandrine is the founder of Tranquility Cycles CIC, a community-focused cycling initiative dedicated to improving access, inclusion, wellbeing, and skills development through cycling. Her work focuses on creating supportive and empowering spaces where people from diverse backgrounds can build confidence, learn practical cycling skills, and experience the social and health benefits of cycling.

In addition to her technical and community work, Sandrine has also contributed to international cycling engagement and public-facing initiatives. In 2023, she led and coordinated a cycling tour experience in Rwanda for comedian and broadcaster Romesh Ranganathan as part of a BBC-supported production filmed across multiple African countries.

Through her work, Sandrine continues to advocate for greater inclusion, representation, and opportunity within cycling, particularly for women and underrepresented communities.
